How often should I disinfect my home?
Disinfecting our homes is important to help us stop the spread of viruses and bacteria, and many of us have become far more aware of how easily germs can be spread in recent months.
Some areas, often referred to as ‘high traffic’ areas, are the places and items that are commonly touched by multiple household members every day. Therefore, these are the prime suspects when it comes to transferring germs from person to person. By using Zoflora to disinfect your home, you can be confident it will eliminate 99.9% of viruses and bacteria, including the COVID-19 virus, whilst also removing any unwanted odours.
So whether it is to kill viruses and bacteria, eliminate odours, or to leave your home smelling beautifully fragrant, here’s how often you should disinfect with Zoflora.
Daily Disinfects
Some areas of the home are used every day, and therefore require regular disinfection to keep them free from viruses and bacteria.
Taps, for example, can harbour over 6,000 bacteria per square inch! Your sink may also be home to over 2,700 bacteria per square inch, so these items need a quick once over with your favourite Zoflora disinfectant every day, what an excuse to use all your different fragrances!
To eliminate 99.9% of viruses and bacteria, just fill a sink with warm water, adding 1 capful of your favourite Zoflora to every 400ml of water. Use the diluted Zoflora to wipe over kitchen worktops, taps, sinks, door handles and light switches* on a daily basis.

Weekly once-overs
Some areas of the home just need a weekly once-over with Zoflora to keep them free-from germs and smelling fresh.
For many of us, particularly if you have pets, our floors are in desperate need of a vacuum and mop at least once a week. Using Zoflora diluted into your mop bucket with warm water will not only disinfect hard floors, but also eliminate odours and leave them safe for your pets. Just remember to keep pets away from the area until floors are completely dry.
Other germ hotspots to wipedown on a weekly basis include frequently touched items such as desks, remote controls, keyboards, mobile phone cases, cupboard doors and bins*.
*Do not spray directly onto electrical items
Monthly jobs
It is important to be realistic with your cleaning routine and set yourself achievable expectations. Not many of us are going to clean out our wheelie bins on a daily, or even a weekly basis! However, germs and dirt in these areas do build up over time, and giving them a once over on a monthly basis will keep the job manageable.
Another place to clean out and disinfect once a month would be your car interior. Research has found that our steering wheels are often a breeding ground for bacteria, with roughly 9 times more germs than you may find on a public toilet seat!
Some other areas to disinfect once in a while include our fridges, washing machines and showerheads, all of which can be teeming with bacteria if not given some TLC every once in a while.
You can find more information on how to use Zoflora in these areas on our ‘Where to use’ pages.
