Vacuuming the carpets is probably on most of our to-do lists by the end of a week - but how many of us reach for the carpet cleaner at the same time?

The same goes for upholstery - we might rearrange cushions and tidy away blankets on a regular basis, but we don’t finish off with an upholstery cleaner.

Both carpets and upholstery are extremely high traffic areas, with carpets regularly coming into contact with germs brought in from the outside. Although a carpet or upholstery may look clean, many different viruses and bacteria can hide in the roots.

The best way to combat this is to use Zoflora Concentrated Multipurpose Disinfectant as a carpet and upholstery disinfectant. Our 3-in-1 formula is designed to kill 99.9% of viruses and bacteria, including the COVID-19 virus SARS-CoV-2,  whilst eliminating odours and filling homes with beautiful fragrance for up to 24 hours.

Our step-by-step guide, which you can see below, outlines how to clean a carpet and how to clean a sofa,or any other upholstered items of furniture in your home. So, grab your Zoflora, and let’s get cleaning!

What you'll need to clean your carpets and upholstery with Zoflora

A bottle of Zoflora 3-in-1 concentrated multipurpose disinfectant
Rubber gloves
Vacuum Cleaner
Trigger spray bottle

Step 1: Prepare your diluted Zoflora disinfectant

To use Zoflora as a powerful carpet and upholstery disinfectant, it must first be diluted with water at a ratio of 1:40 in a trigger spray bottle.

Doing so gives you a highly effective, ready to use disinfectant spray that can be used throughout the home, killing germs and filling rooms with beautiful fragrance. When handling neat Zoflora, always remember to wear rubber gloves.

With the diluted Zoflora trigger spray ready to go, it’s time to move onto preparing the room.

Step 2: Clear away any furniture from the room

To make sure your cleaning reaches all areas of the carpet, it’s great to begin by removing or putting any furniture to one side. That way, you are able to target areas normally hidden by furniture, ensuring a more effective disinfection.

This step also provides the ideal opportunity to patch test Zoflora. To do this, simply spray an inconspicuous area with a small amount of diluted Zoflora, allowing you to see whether the product is suitable for your carpet and upholstery.

While making sure any furniture is out the way, it’s also best to exclude any pets from the area, only allowing them to return once it is completely dry.

Step 3: Vacuum the carpet

With the furniture out of the way, it’s now time to start vacuuming. This removes any loose debris, meaning the carpet is dirt-free and ready for disinfection. Once completed, we advise moving onto any upholstered furniture that is also going to be disinfected.

Step 4: Spray carpets and upholstery with diluted Zoflora

With carpets and furniture cleared and vacuumed , it’s time to start disinfecting. Take the diluted Zoflora  you prepared earlier and spray all over the carpet and upholstery.

When using Zoflora as a carpet and upholstery cleaner, it is important to only give the targeted areas a light covering. This means they can dry naturally and don’t become over saturated.

You should also never spray Zoflora onto polished wood, painted, varnished or composite granite surfaces, the likes of which are often a feature of sofas and armchairs.

And there you have it - how to clean a carpet, sofa and any other upholstery!

Important information when using Zoflora
